April Fool's Day; Grumpy's Castle --
This is just a short report to let everyone know that I have returned, tired-out, sun-burned, over-fed and tick-bit. Yes, I discovered a tick this morning while taking my morning shower, deeply imbedded in my flesh. I guess he sneaked up on me and got by #1 Son's careful inspection that followed each of my foray's into the woods surrounding his palatial grounds in Virginia. Maybe more on that subject on a later post.
I left Washington DC on Saturday about noon local time, changed planes in Minneapolis, and flew the final leg into Seattle on a Delta Airlines 757-300. This was my first flight on board this model that features the first all-electronic propulsion control system in a production airplane -- commercial or military!! [I tried to get USAF to sponsor the development of this concept at an early stage when I became aware of its tactical advantage for a fighter pilot. They refused, and in fact, tried to get Boeing to fire me!] Of course there were no engine control problems on this flight -- even though I was onboard!!
I wanted to talk to the Captain (or First Officer or both) when I got off the plane, but I needed to go to the restroom worse!
BoPop met me at the airport and gave me a ride home [Thanks, BoPop!!].
Tomorrow I will begin posting a series of BLOGS recounting my adventures (and misadventures!) during this two-week "vacation" [NOTE: Retirees do NOT get true vacations!!]. See you around.
Love, the Great Grumpy Z
