A Happy Birthday -- Margaret Mitchell

02 November 2008; South King County--

One of our oldest (longest time) friends is Margaret M. She and her husband, Mitch, who died a couple years ago, had two kids who were about the ages of our older three. Over the many years of friendship, our two families had camped together, hazarded treacherous roads, fished and fought mosquitoes together and enjoyed dining together as our kids grew up. So it was a real pleasure to be able to surprise Margaret on the day before her birthday this past Sunday.

We had arranged to have another mutual friend, Lorna F., meet us at the Black Angus restaurant in Bellevue for a lunch dinner at 2 pm. Reservations were made. We picked up Marg at her home in Kent and drove through heavy rain to Bellevue. As we checked in at the restaurant, the Grand Mother was in the process of informing the maitre d' that there would be four of us, when Lorna walked in!

The "girls" did most of the talking but Grumpy enjoyed listening to their animated jabber and managed to stay out of trouble during most of the pleasant afternoon. Grumpy's picture of the three of them shows the happiness they manifested throughout the day.
