Saturday; South King County--
A neighborhood couple invited all of us to come for a backyard potluck picnic this past Saturday. One of the purposes was to inventory our collective abilities (and disabilities) in preparedness for any kind of disaster that might befall our area.
Of course, a bountiful table of food was set and enjoyed by all as we became better acquainted with each
other -- one of our neighbors was born and raised on a farm near Mobridge SD! A good German boy just like Grumpy!!
The host and hostess, Ed and Arlene, for this get-together are shown here on the right .

Ward & Elynor's Summer 2007 Wanderings--Part IV
As it wonderfully turned out, there were many more than we could have expected! Kay and Bob King were there from Colorado Springs; Alesha and Cortez family were there from Texas! Many more,
not all of whom I could remember, were at
Gary & Cindy's house for a patio picnic hosted by Gary (see photo of the "Chef", right).
The Grand Mother and Grumpy were treated royally by all, but especially by Gary and Cindy's granddaughter, Hailey Cortez (9 1/2) who made sure we were greeted at the front door, helped into the party area and had something cold to drink and plenty of treats to eat.
We were also happy to see Larry there and to get this photograph of him socializing with Mason, his grandson (son of daughter Melaney). Larry reports that he is working for the City now; that the deer population in the Hills is as good as ever, but the hunting becoming less and less fun as the number of hunters increases.
Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to tell about our trip to the North Dakota Badlands. It was much better than the Grand Mother and Grumpy expected! Exciting, too!
