April 18th & 19th; Still "Mist-ified" --
Leaving "my" Cousin Bill's place in OR after breakfast Wednesday morning, the Red Rocket zoomed -- still in the Oregon Mist [No, really, this was the real McCoy!] -- up to the now-famous Fort Bale, carrying Grumpy to see his favorite Swede and his two great, Great Grandsons, J. and A. The older -- and much taller! -- one, J., was scheduled to play in a baseball game that afternoon; Grumpy was looking forward to that event, intending to yell, "Yubba Dubba Doo!" at every hit, near miss or wisely-passed called-ball that his Great Grandson was involved with.
The weather persisted on being uncooperative however, so at the last minute before we were to leave for the game site, a telephone call informed us that, due to rain, the game had been canceled. What was Grumpy and the restive Great Grandsons to do? "How about a game!?!" was the repeated cry in unison. Grumpy of course willingly conceded to -- not just one game, mind you, but several -- of each of several different kinds!! [Grumpy cannot remember being beaten so many times in so many different games of skill and intrigue by two different "little kids"; he nearly cried when A. beat him soundly in a game of "Guess Who", when Grumpy was down to the last candidate and A. still had about six or eight from which to choose!] Tell me, where is justice when you need it?
Finally, despite repeated pleadings for Great Grumpy to stay another night, we all lined up for a photo-op before I had to "head for the barn". I hadn't noticed it before, but the fact that this picture appears tilted from straight up-and-down is not due to their house sinking into the mud! It is due to the fact that Grumpy must have been careless in aligning his remote-action camera when he set it down on the TV table for this time-release photo. [I'll try to do better in the future.]
Note the comical look on the two Great Grandsons' faces. [Did someone tell us to say "Cheese"? -- "What kind, Cheddar or Bleu?"]
[NOTE: In this house, it has to be Swedish!]
