It seems fitting (pardon the pun) that the story of the Wool Slippers (go to URL: http://rentonkayaker.blogspot.com/2008/02/wool-slippers.html) should be told from the perspective of the donee and wearer, namely me, Grumpy.
The photo shows how the Wool Slippers (hereinafter, "MocaSocks" -- so named because they combine all the features of socks with those of a moccasin) fit on Grumpy's feet. Notice, in the background, that the screensaver on Grumpy's "Big Daddy" machine also features the now-infamous MocaSocks! Also note that white (cotton) socks are worn inside the MocaSocks -- that should answer the question posed by one of the commenters on the Renton Kayaker's BLOG about the possibility of forestalling wool allergy by wearing cotton socks inside the great, warm & cozy MocaSocks.These are highly prized and Grumpy can't thank Bopop enough for having taken the time and effort to make them for me.
