Snoqualmie Falls, with Good Friend Margaret

Well, a lot of water has passed over the bridge (or is it supposed to be "under the bridge"?) since Grumpy last posted! But first to the happier times:

On a pleasant summer Sunday awhile back, the Grand Mother and Grumpy picked up our friend of many winters, Margaret, to take a "Sunday drive". A Sunday drive, for the readers who are not old enough to understand what that means, is a slow, meander through the countryside, having no destination in mind before it starts and no schedule as to when it might end. In the really olden days, it was conducted using a fine trotting horse and a two-wheeled, open top buggy, or (for the more well-to-do) a four-wheeled buggy with a fringed top, called a "surrey". The more "modern" versions (remember -- and please respect -- the Great Grumpy's antiquity) of the earlier conveyances were the "convertible" coupe (for two), or the coupe with a "rumble seat" (for two couples).

But I digress!

This particular Sunday's drive evolved into a visit to Snoqualmie Falls; a vista not having been visited in a long, long time by the subjects of today's post. The Grand Mother experienced a low blood sugar count, so a drink of orange juice and a brief rest on a convenient park bench was in order. The two lovely ladies enjoyed the opportunity for a visit while enjoying the pungent smells of cedars, Douglas fir and the air-cleansing mist from the plunging Falls.

Later, we all took to the short walk to the edge of the cliff with the awesome view of the Falls. The Falls were not as mind-blowingly lusty as they may have been earlier in the Spring, but this mid-Summer afternoon they were certainly enhanced and made more beautiful than usual with the addition of these two ladies in the foreground.
